India is the second fastest growing country in the world with around 120,000 millionaires and 56 billionaires. Despite significant economic progress, 1/4th of the nation's population of 1 billion people earn less than the government-specified poverty threshold of $0.40/day. India continues to have an increasing number of people who are poor and hungry.

Navjeevan Dhara has a desire to serve the needy in India, at least the ones who are within their reach. With limited resources, they started a weekly feeding program in 2007, near their Bible Center in Aurangabad. Every Sunday evening almost 100-150 people are fed.  It is anticipated that this number will increase in the coming days.

We understand that physical food can only satisfy the hunger for a period of time, however the true satisfaction comes when a person's spiritual hunger is met. Hence, the Navajeevan Dhara team takes the opportunity to share the gospel and teach them how they could change their way of life through Jesus Christ. Many of these are homeless people and sleep in the bus stand and road side. Our team is helping these people get physical and spiritual food. Additionally, NJD team counsels them to find a purpose in life, so that they would find some employment.

Currently, a rented place is being used to do this ministry. It is our desire to give food every day, but with limited funds for space and food this ministry cannot be expanded.  However, we trust the Lord will assist us to start a City Resue Mission-a home for the poor, needy and homeless people in the near future. If you have a heart for the poor and needy please contact us.
