Unlike the world around us, Jesus always chose to connect with those who were broken and isolated. In the gospel of Matthew,Jesus says For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison, and you came to me . . . I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me (Matthew 25:35-36, 40).

Men and women make choices in their life and sometimes they lead some to prisons.  The only way we can transform our communities is by completely  transforming all people through a relationship with Jesus Christ.  It is our desire that prisoners will get an opportunity to make the most critical choice of their life, that is to accept the work of Jesus on the cross of Calvary and seek the forgiveness of their sins.  So that their ways will be changed with the power of the Holy Spirit.  Navajeevan Dhara team reaches out to the prisoners as an act of service to Jesus Christ and as a contribution to restoring peace to the cities and communities which is endangered by crime. By God's grace Navajeevan Dhara has permission from the Government of India to visit all prisons in India.

When the Navjeevan Dhara team visits prisons and jails, the Music Ministry team sings songs in the local language and shares the gospel of Jesus.  We freely pass out bible books and literature, along with the audio praise & worship CD/cassette to the prisoners and to the prison officers.

Through this ministry, we have seen the power of God coming into the life of many police officers and prisoners who have given their life for Jesus Christ as their personal savior. We are desiring and praying to start regular Bible Classes in some of the prisons.  Whenever we get a chance we try to visit the prisoner's homes and victim's homes and encourage them to face the society and their life.

From 2005 through 2008 Navjeevan Dhara has visited over 150 prisons in Central India. In 2009 Navajeevan Dhara team plans to visit 58 prisons. Please pray for this ministry and for our team's safety when they visit these prisons and jails.
